A Weekend In Wales

A few weekends back my dad and me went to their house in Wales to start a big renovation job.
The house has an old annex that they want to integrate with the rest of the house.

Our job was to get stuff cleared before Dill the builder turned up. Wall down and gone!

Fair to say dad always brings the big toys to get stuff cleared out. The pecker on the digger made short work of the wall.

The small loader meant we had to touch very little of the rubble by hand! Having a dad who hires out machinery is pretty handy at times, I bet this saved us many hours.

In the end we had the wall completely out and clear. With a crisp packet I dated the wall to 2000, so just 24 years, but the annex has been up far longer. They're taking out the gable wall to rebuild it as the first job.

Really nice to spend a weekend with dad like this. Probably about 7 hours in the truck with him just chatting, and went out for a nice meal as well with one of his mates. Made it a really nice weekend.

  1. It's good to get out and do your own thing with your dad occasionally, I expect you feel rejuvinated now!

  3. What a pleasant weekend Kev!

Enjoy those times. Now that my own father has passed, I look back on those times when we did something together with joy.
