January Homestead tour

It honestly feels like it hasn't stopped raining for months now. So with a few days of clear skies I thought I'd do a quick walk around the homestead and show what we've got going on.

Of course, compared to summer things can seem a little quiet, but I feel like I have so many jobs to get through, as well as trying to do everything else.

Have a watch and let me know which jobs you'd tackle first on my list?

  1. Gosh, that seems like an awful lot of work! It seems very wet everywhere this year. We have had three quarters of our average January rainfall already this month and our veg garden is very sticky underfoot in spite of the plot being on the south side of a hill.

    1. It's always lots of work, but some stuff just won't get done and I won't beat myself up about it. the last couple of days everything has dried up as we're having some quite heavy winds.

  2. Any news on getting new livestock like pigs or rabbits Kev?

    1. I'd liek to get some pigs, but need some more fencing in their pen first.

  3. I'm not one for assigning task order. I find that generally, the next task I need to be doing makes itself known by the time I finish my current task.

Since we are supposed to get more snow in the next 24 hours than we got the last two years, with another similar sized snowstorm three days away, I'm going to work on a basement flooring project while looking after the kiddos since school has already been canceled and the first flake hasn't yet arrived.

    1. I thought it was just UK schools that did that sort of thing! Glad to hear it happens there as well. No snow here yet, but it has turned really cold today - first time this year I've had both fires lit and I'm glad I did!
