I know I keep saying it, but it never fails to amaze me how fast their childhood is slipping by!
It doesn't seem five minutes since I was announcing that the Middlest was born, now all of a sudden she's in double digits.
She certainly wants to be grown up! We often joke she's already a teenager (her temperament is a little too similar to my own), she is the first one to offer to help, does jobs around the house without being asked, works hard when she needs to. She's funny, smart, caring and thoughtful. Honestly everyone who knows her loves her.
She has a tight nit group of friends, there's four of them that stick together like glue. for her birthday this year she didn't want a party (thank goodness), instead asking if she could take her friends out for a meal (very grown up).
So we went to an Italian (with my wife's parents as well) and had a lovely meal out. Her friends were great company and they are all so friendly, even our youngest is never left out.
A pizza cake! |
For her cake she asked for a pizza cake and wanted to make it herself. She had one friend come over to help her bake it, then they made the decorations for the day of the party. Unfortunately the pizza decorations they made dried up too much and when she added it to the cake on the Saturday they all fell apart. There was some high emotions in the house, but we all pulled together and made some bits each and go the cake decorated!
Then we set off (the children in their favourite clothes) got to the village and realised we had forgotten the cake!! Mad panic to get back to the house and to the restaurant in time. Really made me laugh how much effort we put into the cake only to forget it!
Who can remember their 10th birthday? I remember the double digits being a really big deal for me!
What lovely children you have. Val
ReplyDeleteAh thank you! they're pretty good really!
DeleteLooks a lovely birthday, your children are growing up quickly, but they are growing into good people.
ReplyDeleteI like to think so.They're good at thinking of others and look out for each other.
DeleteA pizza cake! What a great idea! She did a fantastic job on it. I'll have to show it to my daughter-in-law. She always makes her girls fun decorated cakes for their birthdays. Especially, though, a very happy 10-years-old to her!
ReplyDeleteThank you! she just loves everything to do with baking!
DeleteHappiest of birthdays! The years run by very quickly indeed.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's mad. Like they're slipping buy really!
DeleteMy childhood birthdays all run together these days. I just sort of remember the overall theme of mine. My mom always made carrot cake or homemade cinnamon rolls for my birthdays.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your daughter!
Yeah, I have some I remember and some I don't! But there was always a happy feeling there.
DeleteHope she's had a lovely birthday weekend! Cake looks scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteThank you! she did. She had her other grandparents over the next day as well so made it a full weekend!
