Back in April I made a hand grain mill for a magazine article - well now it's in the shops!
It's in the latest issue of Woodworking crafts, and also gives you a bit of an idea of how long it is from writing an article to having it published (and getting paid for it!)
It was a great project to make, simple but fun with a practical use for it.

Let me know what you think, would a solid wooden grain mill be much good?
It certainly leaves a very coarse flour!
How about you telling the Mills Society about it as it would be a good thing for wind/water mills to have for their open days and school visits.

DeleteIt looks beautiful, sadly whilst I could look at it, I would have no use for it. You should send it to a self sufficient publication, I should imagine they would love it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think some might find a use for it, but it's more for interest than anything.
DeleteI have access to a bulk goods store that sells custom ground flours so I would probably never use such a device. But I know people who would. I hope you sell a bunch of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'm going to make them to sell, although I might sell this one, helps cover the time of the research and makes the article money a little better. I think it might sell for reenactors though. Possibly one to have on a back burner if I have a quiet period.
