A friend popped over the other day and snapped this picture of me.
Me, surrounded by the stuff I proudly make and sell. Wearing wellies...
I keep organised with my work and storage space. Pretty much everything is a custom build and fit to make it work for me (all the shelving is 800mm deep). I have a good work flow now and I'm really enjoying having some products I have put a lot of effort into designing and making.
Is your workplace organised and tidy?
Lovely photo, that's the Kev we all know and love! Oh my goodness, and wouldn't I love to have a rummage in your workshop too, it looks fab! My workplace, ie the house is fairly organised and tidy, but don't even look at the garden shed....
ReplyDeleteMy garden shed is terrible as well! It needs to be three times bigger!
DeleteI'm very untidy. I call it organised chaos.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I know that one!
DeleteI can't stand mess and clutter, so yes my work are is tidy as is the rest of the house and garden. Love to see all you product ready for selling. Have you considered doing a show, where you sell direct to the public.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about a show, but then I only just keep up at the moment, Maybe if I build up some stock over summer I will. My talks are a good way to go out and meet people though and I bring a selection with me (although never sell them there!)
DeleteNot as much as it could be. My workspace also shares space with two vehicles every evening. After many years of poor work flow, I finally began the process of making all my tools and work surfaces mobile on carts. This way when the vehicles are gone/outside, I can arrange things as I like and then put them back in a few minutes so the cars can be pulled back inside. I'm about 75% through that process so I still have a few piles of tools waiting for "permanent" homes on a mobile cart.
ReplyDeleteMy workshop is small considering I work in there near full time, so much of my stuff is on wheels. I have a few benches to adjust and make new ones yet. I currently roll my router table up and down the workshop and would love to have it in a fixed place. I could spend all my time playing in my workshop to make it better though. It's my favourite thing to do!
DeleteYour space looks very well organized to me. I store wood left over from building and renovation projects on shelving in my garage. Mahogany, cedar and oak each have their shelving spaces.
ReplyDeleteThis is just one of my work spaces, more for storage than anything else. I have a few different work areas, and would love to build a bigger workshop one day.
