I'm quite excited by my latest article series, this is a two part one really which details kolrosing. A type of wood tattooing.
In this article I show how to make a simple kolrosing knife and then how to decorate a spatula using it (you stain the cuts with coffee grounds).
As always it's great being in this magazine. Mum said to me today "Remember how many of these magazines you bought in your late teens and twenties" and she's right!
The article after this one I make and decorate a felling axe handle, it's pretty cool and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you all.
Anyone else ever tried Kolrosing?
It looks great and makes something functional look ornate.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, I'm really excited to show the axe handle I've made, taking so much to hold it back!
DeleteI went on a greenwood spoon carving week some years back and we spent one afternoon on kolrosing. One needs more patience, more art, and better fine motor skills than i could muster.
ReplyDeleteI've really taken to it, one thing I like is how you can decorate and then not feel it once it's burnished.
