A week or so ago I picked up a random selection of drawers from my mother to make a unit for her.
And as last week was half term where my wife was at home I could get cracking in the workshop.
It was an
I'm looking forward to seeing it installed and in it's place. I can honestly say it's one of a kind! And although I wouldn't say it was to my taste I might look out for random drawers if I see them to make another!
Let me know what you think! Do you have something similar?
Well worth the project Kev. It's definitely one of a kind. With your mother's eye for design and your carpentry skill - definitely a good tandem:)
ReplyDeleteWell it's certainly different!
ReplyDeleteHaha! It is, not to everyone's taste!
DeleteIt looks very useful and functional. Will you paint it one colour?
ReplyDeleteThe unit will be painted one colour but the drawers will stay a mix.
DeleteWhen you showed these drawers I loved some of them, but thought the idea was going to look like a pigs ear, I take it all back, whilst it's not to my taste, it does look bloody good. Your mum is going to love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was really unsure of it as well but I'm pleased with the way it's turned out.
DeleteI love it so unusual. Heather
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad it came together like it did!
Deleteyour mother must be so proud of you...for so many reasons not just this fantastic chest you made!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You're too kind!
DeleteI think it is great!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
DeleteHow clever you are! Plus, it's a great memory for you and your mum to share. Good job there.
ReplyDeleteMe moaning to here that she's got too random a selection of drawers!
DeleteThat is wonderful! As a Tetris fan I see so much beauty in this creation ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen the tetris set of shelves I made about 6 years ago?
DeleteAbsolutely love this :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! At first I thought it was nice that you were doing this for your mother, even though it wasn't exactly my taste, but I keep going back to look at it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not my tastes either to be honest. I'm keen to see it in its place and painted.
DeleteAbsolutely brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI like the drawers! I think what keeps it from being *too* mismash mixup hodgepodge is that there are several sets of matching drawers. I'm not sure if I'd paint it all one color or not.
ReplyDeleteThe unit will be painted, but the drawers will keep being different colours. Some I'd seen had more matching drawers than this. I might keep an eye out to see if I can find some to make some more units in a similar style.
DeleteI think it's just brilliant Kev, your mum will be thrilled!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteFirst thing my youngest daughter said as she walked in and saw it!
ReplyDeleteThought the idea was interesting but wouldn't be to my tastes, yet I find myself loving it. Could easily see it in some trendy apartment. Nice bit of craftsmanship and recycling
ReplyDeleteI just love a man who can take a bunch of crap & make something totally interesting & useful with it!! I would LOVE to own one of those.
