Indian Game Chickens In Their New Pen

The young chickens we hatched out in February moved into their new pen this week.

The new pen is huge and so far they seem to love it.

The first few days they were pretty nervous coming out to of the coop. I haven't used this old coop in years. It was the first one I built here in 2012.

The birds all look really healthy and happy, it's funny as I thought that I might have to remove a few of the smaller bantams for bullying when we hatched them out, but they're a proper part of the flock. In fact the first night in the new coop I couldn't find one of the bantams until I discovered he was tucked under two of the bigger birds!

Can't wait to see these birds fully grown!

  1. I bet they are loving the space. I had to evict one of our pullets from the shed today. The noise that she made you would have thought a cat had her, rather than me, appearing in the door way! They look fast on their feet!

    1. These little ones are not keen on being handled although the kids seem to have won or two over now. It does make me laugh when they make a fuss like that, I wonder what my neighbours think I'm doing when I move some of ours!

  3. Hey Kev, I dont have twitter but you are asking about a latch for a Japanese box. Psoh boy says it looks like a throw over latch or a squared off hook latch using a button... like this link but the top is just bent over to make it easier to move https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Side-Hook-and-Eye-25mm-Picture-Frame-Clasp-Hooks-Small-Catch-Door-FREE-P-P-/161315067531
