I made a load of fruit crates a while ago that stack together to store our apple harvest.
These have been great in some ways. It gives a good airy store place and allows apples to sit for a long time. The downside is that because they stack you can only access the top tray. I wanted something a bit different, more like drawer unit. I'd seen many online but wanted something a bit bigger to fit the space I had.
So I decided to modify the crates I had already built and made a unit that would suit my purpose.
I even got keen and made a video about it!
I'm really pleased with how these turned out. I've now got 15 shelves worth of apples. I'm hoping to have a space for 5 more in the pantry when I finish that so I can rotate food in and out the house when I want to.
Please watch the video and tell me what you think.
I really need a tripod for some of the shots and will look into getting one if I do more videos. I'd love to do some carpentry videos as well if people are interested, although I might do them through my other blog.
That is a brilliant design.
ReplyDeleteI can;t take credit, I think things like this have been around for years!
DeleteLooks strong and sturdy. Suppose you could store vegetables like onions in them too?
ReplyDeleteYes, and potatoes at a stretch as well I think.
