Vlog - Episode 1 - Garden Tour

Right so I thought I'd do another video and start doing a bit of a vlog (video log) as well as the blog.
Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see in the next episode.
Do you like the intro?

  1. Excellent effort, Kev, and well done. I did have to strain to hear your voice though, but that did not stop me from enjoying your vlog.

    1. Just ordered a mic so hopefully that should improve the sound! Thanks Vera.

  2. No music would be better and a mike as at times, your voice was lost. Other than that, very good. You work so hard.

  4. I found the sound OK actually, it was just when you occasionally spoke facing away from the camera that it was lost a bit. Great video Kev, loved it, so much work you've done there. What a great idea giving the girls a bucket to collect the caterpillars. I bet you can't wait to be rid of all that building site too. One comment, I noticed that Sea Buckthorn that you've got in your second veg plot, which you said had grown enormous, well, I'd have that out right away if I were you. They grow wild around our area, and truly they are monsters which will take over any ground and send up suckers all over the place (like the Goji berries!)So whip it out quick and put it where it doesn't matter if it spreads. How are the Chilean guava bushes doing this year?

    1. AS soon as it gets cooler I'll lift it. I only put ti there as I had nowhere else to put it at the time! Thanks for the heads up.
The guavas haven't been like last year, now berries this time - I think the frost got the flowers!

  5. Loved the vid but the music was overwhelming and rather distracting. I ended up watching it muted. Looking forward to your next flick. :-D

  6. Couldn't hear well when you turned your face away, and as a Yank watching - I listen VERY hard to make sure I understand everything! My first time to watch your vlogs - will definitely go back and watch all of them. I really appreciate the time and effort you are giving to make a great home for you and your family.

    1. Thanks MiniG I've now got a mic so the next video should be easier to hear me, but the accent will be the same!

  7. I enjoyed your video - you faded just a bit when you turned away from the camera. I didn't like the music, much to loud and annoying.

You are a very hard worker and your place is going to be brilliant when done.

    1. Can you do a video of how some of these turned out when they're harvested? Like the salsify? I'm interested to see how yams do for you too. They were a real disappointment here.

    2. Yeah I'll do videos on the harvest, no problem! The yams last year were great. I think the trick is to leave them int he gorund as long as you dare. Here's a link to my last harvest of them - http://www.englishhomestead.com/2016/01/new-zealand-yam-harvest.html
