Dad Combining

Mum sent me this amazing picture of my dad combining from yesterday evening.
I thought it was such a great picture I had to share it with you all.
I can remember many times going to see dad on an evening like this and bringing him some sandwiches, jumping on without him stopping.

  1. It's a hard life on the farm, things have to be done when the weather allows. At least the sunset was beautiful.

  2. I'm full of admiration for the farmers, they are so hardworking. We are surrounded by farms, they're often still out in the fields on their tractors when I'm going to bed around 11 pm.

  3. There's no doubt that farmers are the hardest working folks out there......but I think they are amongst the happiest as well-working the land is immensely satisfying!

  4. I have been watching the local farmers working late into the night to get things done. Is it true they work by Sat Nav? The fields look amazing when the wheat is in and straw is baled into huge wheels.

  6. A truly beautiful picture, it should be blown up to a much larger size and used as as picture on the wall of your, or their, house.

Our road has been full of tractors, trailers and combines all travelling between the fields on various local farms. It really is time to make hay while the sun shines.

  8. Since we only moved to our smallholding in January, which is in the middle of lots of working farms, we are only just appreciating the harvest season. Seeing our new friends & neighbour working away at all hours of the day is breath taking. So given this, your photo really sums up a whole host of things for me, thank you. Fabulous.
