Muddy Mess

I thought I'd post a little video on here to make you all feel better about what your places are like at the moment.
It is muddy here.
When you watch the video please excuse all the building materials and diggers, wheel barrows etc. It's just too muddy to tidy this stuff up without making more mess at the moment.
Field drains and soak aways are needed here and will be added in the future.
I'm hoping that this time next year it should look a lot better than this!

    1. The sheep are on sabbatical at my fathers farm, luckily! They have about 30 acres to graze on at the moment so the wet is less of an issue there. Still have to think what to do about lambing.

  2. Oh, it's a similar story here in Ireland. Just outside the house is okay as we have paving. Just don't step any further or you'll sink into the bog land, never to be found again. In the coming months we'll need the diggers back in to drain some more land.

    1. I have paving laid on soil in places and they're slowly sinking into the mud! I have reshuffled the chickens though so that should make their feet a bit drier.

    1. It's just constant at the moment! Hopefully it'll all dry aout soon. Not as bad as some places int he Uk at the moment though so I'm thankful for that.

  4. Kev. I live on Muddy Valley Road here in Oregon. There is a reason they named it that. :-)

  5. Nice to see your mud ... it made a nice change from looking at ours ;-)

Our chickens for some reason stay on the muddy part of their enclosure and rarely venture round the corner to the more grassy bit!!

We're considering siting another henhouse on the hill in amongst the fruit trees so we can rest Chicken World for a few months each year and give the ground chance to recover for Summer.
