A bit of light heartedness for a Monday morning.
The girls went with me to check the sheep last night before tea. My eldest was really excited to show me the "fairy tree" that she'd found when out walking with her mum.
The tree has some dried bracket fungus on it (beefsteak I think) and she was telling me that this was where the fairies live (and the one on the back of the tree was their Wendy house) and there was all different coloured fairies that fly around.
She's completely fascinated with this tree and we spent ages down there looking at all the holes in it's root and studying it's bark.
To be three again and to see such magic in the world!
Fabulous, what fun! You could do some bark rubbings on it with them then they could hang the 'pictures' on their walls. And here's another idea for your left over concrete: http://ana-white.com/2015/05/free_plans/concrete-x-side-table-featuring-rogue-engineer
ReplyDeleteThat's not a bad idea, I bet they'd sell as well!
Delete- The concrete not the tree rubbings!
Deleteso are you going to keep the magic going and make a little fairy door to put over one of the holes :-)
ReplyDeleteI think after reading all the comments it might have to happen! Although this tree is in a one of the fields we rent but I'm sure they won;t mind!
DeleteThree is indeed a magical age . I remember making all kinds of things for the fairies . Occasionally a fairy would leave a note for me . I would be very tempted to make the girls a fairy garden .
ReplyDeleteI think I'll make a fairy door like Dawn says and let them find it.
DeleteA little door that appeared overnight would be such a thrill for them , if you google/pinterest fairy gardens you will be overrun with ideas :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a ridiculous amount of stuff on there isn't there! Stuff I'd never have thought of.
DeleteWe have Faery folk living here. Hubby often helps out making doors for them, and I do some of their gardening.
ReplyDeleteThere is magic all around for those who are willing to see.
Foster it Kev, and it will be with them forever.
We only ever encourage it. When she's telling me a little made up story I just love it, she has such a good imagination.
DeleteI was going to suggest a little door might appear overnight ..... with Daddy's help, but I was beaten to it :-)
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be the popular choice at the moment! Watch this space!
Deletewhen i was a little girl, my grandfather would take walks in the woods with my dog and he would decorate a tree way back in the woods with things he found along the way. old jewelry, gloves, etc.. he always told me it was the ghost tree. i loved it so much.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful memory!
DeleteI am with everyone else, your so handy with wood and all.. You need to make a little door to put on the tree, then let them find it! My how your girls have grown, they look so cute in their little pink muck boots :O)
ReplyDeleteMaybe a little window as well a bit further up!
DeleteIf you look at my blog for Sunday 5 April Kev. You will see some houses for the "little people". People leave donations for them,
ReplyDeleteJust looked now and I really like them! Although I won't encourage my girls to leave money in them!
DeleteHow sweet! Ah the imagination of a child is so full of potential.
ReplyDeleteMe? i'd go probably mad and be buying little dolls house chairs haha
i used to make little tea sets when i had a dolls house a few years ago and paint them with teeny flowers
