Our lawn is so rough it feels like a battle has been fought on it. I tried pushing my big old Honda up and down but decided this was something I wasn't going to persuade myself to do very often. And short of making hay on the garden (which I have considered) I needed something to make my life a little easier.
Luckily my dad always knows someone selling what I want, within three days I was the proud owner of a secondhand ride on lawn mower, and for 300 quid I think it's a bit of a bargain. It handles the lawn nicely (after I strimmed it) and it can squeeze up the side of the house to do the little front lawn as well. Well it could get up there after I attacked the hedge with my little hedge trimmer and large chainsaw.
Not sure if my little girl enjoyed this or not! |
Slowly I'm starting to get on top of things! I've got to learn to try and take these things on steadily or they can get on top of you and every job can suddenly look like a major one. Like the veg garden. But I'll depress you all with that another day...
They say "give girl a horse and she can get over anything" but I think it's tractors that do the trick...well done on starting the little one on her love of tractors!!

Yeah, one of my first words was "Tractor"! Going to try and steer her away from horses if I can! Maybe she'd like a motor bike like I had!
DeleteBrilliant....boys and their toys!! My Lovely Hubby loves his, well it's only on loan while we live here, I can see us 'having' to buy one when we move or he'll go into decline.
ReplyDeleteA real bargain yours and it gets the job done quickly too, so it leaves you time to get on with the veg garden.

I do love my toys, being a carpenter as well as a part time pretend farmer I've got many!
DeleteAlso - "Leaves Time to get on with the veg garden." Hummm... I'm about ready to give up with it this year and just start again next year!
I was given my ride on for nothing. Mind you it has cost a few bob since! Sometimes I think it would be better for my fitness if I still had a push one.
ReplyDeleteYes you have to keep on top of things so they don't become 'chores'.
I do a manual job so the last thing I wanted to do was push the mower up and down - the trouble is my old mower should have self drive on it but it's broke, so I think it makes it harder to push than if it didn't! Maybe you could buy mine. For the good of your health obviously!
DeleteOur lawn is rough as a cob too. Its a dust bowl when we use the riding mower but its to much to push for sure. Have no idea how much 300 quid is but sounds good LOL
ReplyDeleteabout $470 in your money. Although I think the fuel to fill it would be much cheaper over there!
DeleteLooks great fun, we got rid of the grass in our own garden, one less thing to do. My dad however is determined to get a ride on for their plot.
ReplyDeleteQuite fun but I'm dure it will wear off! We need the lawn for our daughter to play on but they can be a lot of work. Tell your dad to get one, so much effort saved!
